Sinival is a coffee grower born and raised on “Grumarim”
stream, in the municipality of Caparao (Minas Gerais
state). His grandparents were one of the pioneers of the
region; they began planting from scratch in 1955. After
his grandfather João Fernandes death, the 250ha
property was inherited by his father Simonil Fernandes,
who continued planting until his death in 1981, then the
property was divided between the heirs, and Sinival kept
working with coffee.

Currently his farm has 12,64ha, which 10ha are of
plantation, and he produces more than 400 bags of
coffee. They have started working with quality
coffee by chance, because his land is in the ideal
highness and ideal earth. Through “atlântica”
coffee, he has discovered the quality of his coffee
and then he has started investing in the quality of
his equipment such as dryer, terroir, separator and
so on.

He sees in the production of quality coffee the opportunity to aggregate value to his work, that is why he keeps always looking for ways to improve the quality of his coffee. Southland Merchants has given him the opportunity to export the result of his
